100% Handcrafted

All of the products at SparkleFunk Creations are handcrafted by me, Renae, some taking hours for a single pair of earrings! Because of this, the details are second to none - the textures are created specifically for each item, the colours are combined to create the perfect shades, the tiny handpainted elements, and the use of gloss, semi-gloss and matte finish to enhance features.

My Story - How it all started

I've always been into arts and crafts. When asked as a child "what do you want to be when you grow up?", the answer was always... an artist! I started creating and selling jewellery at my local market for the first time over 30 years ago when I was 12 years old. I mostly used beads and fishing line, until one day a shop called "Bead Heaven" opened at my local shopping centre. You would go in and pay to make jewellery for an hour. The walls were lined with every colour & shape of bead imaginable, and they had proper jewellery findings and tools. This is when my earring obsession began. I've always created my own jewellery since then, but I didn't see it as a viable career choice so I moved onto other areas of art for my career.

In 2001, I started my degree in Visual Communication Design, with a focus on 3D design & sculpture, illustration, and advertising. I graduated in 2004 and was immediately offered work as a designer for a large design & advertising company. I created digital artworks for many well-known fast food chains, including making 'fake foods' with mixed media to feature in television commercials and photo shoots. Making fake foods that look real was my absolute FAVOURITE thing to do in that job... and I was good at it.

I got married to my husband in 2010 and we had our first child in 2014. This was when I made the decision to leave my job and focus on my family. In 2022, two kids later and after being out of the art industry for a while now, I decided to start making realistic mini foods again as a hobby... but my collection grew way too fast! By 2023 I started to have the occasional market stall as a hobbyist and by 2024 I had my own website with an online shop, as well as a MadeIt.com shop and 3 markets a month.

It's thanks to you, my amazing customers, that I can continue to create my unique, loud, funky, quirky earrings and accessories. Realistic mini foods with incredible details. Custom made keyrings for your food business or just for yourself. I hope you love them as much as I loved creating them.
